How we got into Vallhunds-
We got our first Vallhund, Sunny, KingsCrest Sunflower, about 4 years ago. I had wanted an inside dog that had the temperament of a large dog and would not be intimidated by our larger Swissys.
When I was researching the breed, I really liked two Kennels, Castleavery Kennels, Irish, and Starvon Kennels, British. Imagine my surprise when I found out that Rebekah James had imported her girl Tia from Castleavery Kennel in Ireland and only lived about two hours from us in North Carolina.
We started communicating with Rebekah and we selected Sunny for my first foundation Vallhund. What a girl. She is fun, bright, and very mischievious. She finished her Championship before 18 months. Thank You Rebekah and Robert James for all your help and support... Could not have had such a wonderful experience without Sunny.
We have pictures of Sunny below and as you can see she is not a wall flower,,, she fits in with our Motto that "Our Dogs are into Everything".
According to everything I have read they are a primitive dog and can be hard to house break.
We went out of our way to get Sunny out as a pup and really expose her to a new place or experience every week up until she was a year old... All this work paid off with dividends... She is very self confident and outgoing.
In our experience she had to be let out during the night at least once until she was about six months old and then she stopped having to go out until morning. The other thing we did is that we NEVER left Sunny unattended in the house for the first year of her life... if we left the house she was put into a crate with a chew toy or left out in a secure yard. We never gave her the opportunity to use the bathroom in the house. Again this hard work paid off and we have had very little house breaking issues.
As you can tell we love her. She has the temperament of a well adjusted German Shepherd. She is eager to please, virtually unbreakable and is very athletic for those of us who like to do performance things with our dogs.
Look at the pics below of Mom- Sunny,,, Dad-Bo, and their beautiful puppies. I have 3 boys and 1 girl available.
Plan to do eye checks on the whole litter before they go to new homes.
Sunny's breeding soundness exam results are as follows:
Hips- OFA Fair
Elbows- OFA Normal
Eyes- Normal
For those interested in going further,,, please go to home page and fill out a puppy application (Under Apps/Contract) and send it to me at dccampeau@yahoo.com Please read all about our feeding and vaccine recommendations for our dogs. It is important for your dogs lifetime health.
All puppy health guarantees are contingent on new owners following conservative vaccine protocols and following feedings recommendations.
